How the chore list generator works
Add your kids
Type each child's first name and choose their age, for up to 8 kids. If a child is ahead of or behind their age, choose the age that matches what they can actually do.
Check each list
Every child gets their own list from our guide for their age: chores for every day, chores for once a week, and stretch chores to try later. Ticked chores are in. Untick anything that does not fit your house, and the minutes and points add up as you go.
Use it your way
Print the lists and put them on the fridge. Or load them into FamilyPoints, and each child gets their chores on a checklist they tick off themselves.
2 Check each list
- Every day
- Chores that happen daily, most of them inside routines like getting ready or after dinner.
- Once a week
- Bigger jobs. Give each one a set day so nobody has to remember.
- Try when ready
- Stretch chores, unticked to start. Add one once the daily list happens without reminders.
- Minutes and points
- Rough time for a child who has been shown how, and about one point for every 10 minutes of work.
- Written for your child
- Chores are worded the way your child will read them, like "Make my bed", on a printed list or their checklist.
- Printing
- Each child gets a weekly chart on its own page, with the ticked chores down the side and a box for every day to tick off.
3 Use it your way
Print it
Prints a weekly chore chart for each child, one page each, like our printable charts: the chores you ticked down the side and a box for every day of the week.

Where the lists come from
- Each child gets the daily and weekly chores from the guide for their age, ticked, plus that age's stretch chores unticked, to add when they are ready.
- Times and points are the guide's own. Totals update as you tick and untick, so you can see how long each child's day really is.
- Siblings get lists for their own ages, so a 12 year old is not handed a 6 year old's jobs, and the same chore is worth the same points for both.
Want the reasoning behind a list? Every age has a full page, starting from the chores by age chart, and each age band has a printable weekly chore chart too.
Questions about the chore generator
How does the chore generator choose chores?
It uses the lists on our chores by age pages, which were checked against the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidance on chores by age. Every child gets their own age's daily and weekly jobs, and the stretch jobs are there to add once the basics happen without reminders.
Is anything saved when I use the generator?
No. The lists are made in your browser. Names and choices only leave your device if you press Load this into FamilyPoints, which saves them to your new account.
What if my child is ahead of, or behind, their age?
Pick the age that matches what they can do rather than their birthday. The guides are a starting point, and every chore can be changed later.
