Privacy Policy

Last updated September 9, 2026. FamilyPoints is operated from the United States.

The short version

  • We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. There are no ads and no tracking pixels.
  • Children don't get accounts or email addresses. A child signs in with a first name and a PIN that only you set.
  • We store what the app needs to work: your family's points, tasks and history.
  • You can delete your account, and your family's data with it, from the settings page at any time.
  • We never see your card number. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Who we are

FamilyPoints is a small, independently run web application at familypointstracker.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to support@familypointstracker.com, and a real person answers them.

What we collect

From the adult who creates the account

  • Your email address, used to sign you in, verify your account, reset your password, and send you the notifications you've turned on.
  • Your password, stored only as a salted hash. We cannot read it.
  • Optionally your first and last name, and the name your children see you by, such as "Mom" or "Dad".

About the children in your family

You add children to your family yourself. For each one we store the name you type, an avatar and color if you pick them, a hash of the 4-digit PIN you set, and their points, tasks and history.

Children do not have accounts. We do not ask for or store a child's email address, phone number, date of birth, photograph, address or location. A child signs in by opening your family's link and entering their PIN. There is no way for a child to sign up on their own, and nothing in the app lets a child contact anyone outside your family or share anything publicly.

What the app records as you use it

  • The points, tasks, checklists, notes and reward redemptions your family creates, including who awarded or approved each one and when.
  • Basic session information for each browser that visits: an IP address, a browser user-agent string, the pages visited and the time. This is how we see whether the site is working and being used. These records are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • If you turn on push notifications, the address your browser gives us for delivering them, and the keys needed to encrypt them. Turning notifications off deletes it.

If you subscribe

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers. We store the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe gives us, your subscription's status, and when it renews. Stripe's own handling of your data is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
  • We don't show ads or embed advertising trackers.
  • We don't build advertising profiles of you or your children.
  • We don't use your family's data to train machine learning models.
  • We don't email you marketing you didn't ask for.

Who else touches your data

We use a small number of service providers, and only to run the product:

  • Our hosting provider, which runs the servers and the database the app lives on.
  • Stripe, for subscription payments.
  • Mailgun, which delivers our email: verification, password resets, and submission notifications.
  • A push notification service operated by your browser's maker (such as Google or Apple), which delivers notifications to your device if you turn them on. It receives the encrypted message, not the contents.
  • Font Awesome, whose icon files the app loads from their servers, which means their servers see your device's IP address the way any website's images would.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is necessary to protect the safety of someone or the integrity of the service.

Keeping it separate and safe

Each family's data is walled off from every other family's. Only adults who have accepted an invite link you sent can see or change your children's points, and only children with a PIN you set can open a child dashboard. Traffic to the site is encrypted in transit. Passwords and PINs are stored as hashes, not as text.

A read-only share link and a child login link are unguessable, but anyone holding one can open it. Share them the way you'd share a house key, and tell us if one gets out so we can help you rotate it.

How long we keep things

Your family's points and history stay until you delete them or delete your account. Session records are deleted after 30 days. When you delete your account we remove your account immediately; if you were the only adult in your family, your family's children, tasks and entire point history are deleted with it, and any subscription is canceled. If other adults remain in the family, their shared family data stays with them.

Your choices

  • See your data. Everything we hold about your family is visible in the app: the dashboard, the transactions page, and settings.
  • Correct it. Names, points, tasks and history can all be edited or removed in the app.
  • Delete it. Settings has a Delete account option that removes your account, and your family's data with it when you're the last adult in it.
  • Turn off notifications. Email notifications and push notifications each have their own switch in settings.
  • Ask us. Email support@familypointstracker.com for a copy of your data or for help deleting it, and we'll take care of it.

Children's privacy

FamilyPoints is a tool for parents. Accounts are created and controlled by an adult, and everything about a child in the app was typed in by that adult. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, we don't let children create accounts, and we don't allow children to publish anything or communicate with anyone outside their own family. A parent can view, edit or delete everything recorded about their child at any time, from the settings page or by emailing us.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
